flywheel gland nut
excellent quality!
part # 111105305E
only the best quality gland nut for your engine!
Your flywheel gland nut is one of the most important things on your engine and a poor quality one can absolutely destroy your crankshaft and flywheel in a hurry! That's why on every engine we build in-house and on all of our own VWs, we only use real German OEM gland nuts made by Kolb. Unlike cheaper gland nuts, these will torque to the factory specs of 253 ft/lbs and getting to and holding that torque is important since a loose flywheel is an engine-killer! However there is one important part of the gland nut that everyone always forgets to refresh - the gland nut washer. The washer is there to help the gland nut stay at that massive amount of torque but over time the washer can lose it's tension so we're including a new one with this auction!
DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT!
What you get:
1 x 111105305E - Flywheel Gland Nut - made in Germany by Kolb (OEM)
1 x 111105297 - Flywheel Gland Nut Washer
Applications :
Beetle 1961-1977
Super Beetle 1971-1979
Karmann Ghia 1961-1974
Bus 1960-1971
Type 3 1962-1973
Thing 1973-1974
THIS GLAND NUT WILL ONLY WORK ON 40HP-1600CC ENGINES - IT WILL NOT WORK ON 25HP, 36HP, OR TYPE 4 APPLICATIONS!
IT WILL ALSO NOT FIT AUTOSTICK OR AUTOMATIC APPLICATIONS!!!
Installation Notes:
Be sure your crankshaft threads are free of dirt and burrs before installing the gland nut. Never put two threaded surfaces together dry - always use some oil and be sure to put some oil on the bearing inside the gland nut.
If you are using this gland nut on a 40hp engine but have converted to a later flywheel, make sure the gland nut isn't bottoming out (too long) as this will prevent the nut from being torqued properly.
If you can't torque the gland nut to the required spec, take your engine to a shop that has the capabilities of doing it. A loose gland nut = a loose flywheel = a screwed-up crankshaft = engine rebuild.
