Vintage Tiffany Sterling Cigarette Box-----Important Owner

Up for auction is this Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Cigarette Box.   This box came from the Estate of a close family friend who was a neighbor of the original owner, Dr Kenneth Clark.    Dr. Clark was a important psychologist,  educator, and social reformer of racial justice,   Dr. Clark was well-known in the early days of segregation, and along with his wife Mamie, (also a psychologist)  who was famous for their 1940's and 1950's  "doll tests"  involving 3,4,and 5 year old children.    Dr. Clark "doll tests" were used by the NAACP legal defense team  , and Thurgood Marshall in three of the four  Brown vs Board of Education, U.S. Supreme Court decisions.   Clark's testimony  before the high court was instrumental  in the Courts decision.   It is believed that the the box was given to Dr Clark and his wife by  The American Broadcasting Companies, in June 1978 when they ended their leadership at the  Northside Center for  Child Development                  after founding the school some 33 years earlier.   The lid is engraved with their initials,  kCm,   and inside lid also is engraved from The American Broadcasting Companies.    The box measures 4-1/8"  wide, x3-3/8" front to back, , and is 1-1/8" high.  Total weight is 340 grams.   There are thousands of entries on Google about the Clarks, which give a full history of the Clark's and their importance in ending de-segregation in the early days.   During their lifetime both gained  high achievement both nationally and Internationally for their work and many life "firsts"=======See All Pictures, Email Questions======
