Vintage Madonna & Child Virgin Mary Ornate Gold Gilt Frame Velvet Matte Icon

Description

This painting was given to my parents in 1970 by a dear friend.  It is Madonna and Child in a very antique style.  The frame is ornate gold gilt and the matte is velvet or something similar.  The painting is unsigned.  There are some (Greek?) symbols in the top right.  The frame has a few dings and scrapes and in places the gold gilt is rubbed off to show red color underneath.  The matte is a bit dusty, but otherwise looks good.  The inside painting measures 10 x 7.5 inches and framed it measures almost 15 x 13 inches.
