This is a very cool, very ingenious machine. While traditional straight razors are treated with a long leather strop, this is designed specifically for safety razors (the now old-fashioned flat rectangular blades that went into a holder). You put that blade into the brace and turn the handle. The strop (which is circular) rotates away from the edge as you turn the crank, then lifts and flips the blade for a cycle on the other side.
If you're a fan of old-timey barber equipment or if you're the kind of person who uses a safety razor to cut back on plastic waste, this could be just what you're looking for!
Aside from the original box, item also comes with original paperwork. This includes the instructions, a small card telling you that if you want good results you should read and pay attention to those instructions, and a warranty card (10 year warranty!) that probably expired like fifty years ago.
