S Kirk & Son REPOUSSE STERLING Round Victorian Dresser Box 11 OZ

This is a Georgeous S. KIRK & SON 11OZ Dresser Box. The 11OZ mark is a purity mark for 91.6% silver used by S Kirk and Son. Close to sterling, but not quite there. The design may be Repousse Floral. It looks to be a victorian style with a profusion of various flowers and foilage. It measures approximately 2.75 inches high and has a 3-inch lid and container diameter. It is marked on the inside base, under the cover (see photo 8). It has some piercings/pin holes in it. You can see them when you hold it up to the light. I believe it is part of the process when made. The pin holes are less than a 16th and some less than a 30 second. Four of the pin holes on the cover are a  bit larger. This box dates to the early 1870s. Kirk made no 925/1000 silver until the year 1886. The cover of the box is snug. This box is in Excellent, Original, Condition.
