Description
A Chart on the Course of Time from Eternity to Eternity by A. E. Booth c.1895. The visible image measures 11 5/8 x 31 1/16 inches, outer measurements of frame are 13 5/8 x 33 inches. It is framedunder wavy antique glass
in its original Mission Oak style frame with a wooden backboard. Fine condition with minor tide stain along bottom right edge, with overall even age toning.
Original, large pictorial chromolithograph of history showing six dispensations, published and sold by Loizeaux Brothers in New York and also distributed through the "Home Friend Office" in Toronto.
The lithograph presents a schematic view of the history of the world, as understood in Dispensationalism. The separation of time into stages and cycles in central to Dispensationalist theology, and thus Dispensationalism lends itself to interpretation and representation through visual timelines.
Writing decades after the publication of the chart, a reviewer said of Booth's Chart:
A. E. Booth's "Chart of the Ages" has helped many thousands get a clear picture in their minds of the major events in biblical history-those of the past and those that are still future. While various scholars who believe in dispensationalism (as did A.E. Booth) may disagree with some details such as the number of dispensations or the timing of the first couple chapters of Genesis, the general view of this chart is not in dispute. This pamphlet, recently updated, is the best available to explain in some detail the events pictured on the chart.
