This is a true piece of art. A chromolithography print of a bible leaf - Bible - XIII Century - English
Here is a definition from Wikipedia of the complicated process of making chromolithography prints:Chromolithography was the first method for making true multi-color prints. (Before the chromolithograph, prints were colored in by hand.) First commercialized in the 1830s by Godefrey Engleman of France, it was based on lithography which used flat stone slabs on which an image is drawn on the surface, but used separate stones for separate colors or impressions. Some chromolithograph prints demonstrated remarkable technical proficiency for the accuracy in the appearance of the image, its photorealistic accuracy. The overlapping layers of separately printed patterns of color (a completed chromolithograph consists of the summation of serial layers of ink on the page), when digitally magnified, now provide the data, for new forms of color media. Every chromolithograph is printed one color at a time.
The folio page size is 11 inches wide x 15 inches high. Please note that is not the size of the image. This is perfect to frame and MAY come with a same size leaf with a history of the image of the print. Possible offsetting and minor foxing not effecting the image.
