ANTIQUE MEN'S CLOTHING STORE SIGN
Wonderful antique color illustrated heavy cardstock sign measuring 22" tall by 15" wide. Featuring advertising for S.E. PERLBERG & CO., WHOLESALE MERCHANT TAILORS ~ CHICAGO, this is the SPRING AND SUMMER SEASON 1913 display, designed to hang on the wall, it is complete with the original cord pierced through the top for that purpose. Depicting a charming scene of a handsome young man in finely checked suit, cap, and and glovesholding a cigarette and wearing binocular case as shown, he leans on a brass rail, silhouetted by a full moon, while a lovely young woman in large hat stands at his side - the suit is identified as Special Model No. 138, Three Button Sack.
Condition is good - there is damage or missing points on all four border corners with holes as shown from hanging, with edge wear and light soiling from display and age - the actual image is without holes, writing, soiling, stains or damage. This would have hung in a haberdashery shop or store, allowing the customer to choose the style and fabric before the suit was "made-up". Sign is original, not a reproduction - amazing that it has survived all these years. Think it would be a wonderful addition to any collection or display - please note -- as shown, I will be listing additional signs from the same tailor, and can certainly combine shipping.
