A museum worthy late Meiji Japanese silver & gold scholar's box.
Signed in Japanese characters.
Circular form.
Hand carved silver twin leaf on pebbled ground with
fruit and flower gold highlights.
Dome cover with continuation of the silver leaf and vine
with gold fruit and flower as below
atop subtle textured background.
Gold flower with streaming engraved vine along the cover edge.
Atop gently curved short panel feet.
Signed in Japanese characters, translation from well known British
auction House.
This Japanese sterling & gold scholar's box is 5 1/2 inches across
and weighs 35 1/2 standard ounces.
Never monogrammed.
In very fine condition.
Rich sterling & gold patina, retains original detail.
Cover closes tight.
