SUPERB ANTIQUE CHINESE CELADON VASE
Qianlong (1711-1799)
Exquisite celadon glazed vase with a strong and handsome presence. Of ovoid form rising to a short neck and wide round mouth. The jar shaped vase exhibits rarely seen, raised crescent shaped handles on either side. We have seen only one other example of this which sold at Christie's on November 8, 2011 in their
Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction in London, Lot number 323. The Christie's lot retained the original lid, and thus sold for nearly 50,000 British pounds.

The combination of the well balanced form, even celadon coloration, and subtle detail, is utterly sublime. This exquisite vase measures approximately 9.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide, and is in excellent antique condition with just minor surface wear commensurate with age. The underside is marked with a Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue within the recessed foot.
The entirety exhibits a natural, elegant presence of quiet strength and harmony.
A beautiful example of Asian life and expression, and an exquisite centerpiece for the most discriminating collector of Chinese art and antiques.
