FINE 1890 SAINT RITA OF CASCIA RELIGIOUS TIN LITHO PRINT JOHN DUFFY NY NUN JESUS

Description

This is an Estate Fresh beautiful old Tin Lithograph painting by John Duffy from what I believe to be the 1890's.  It is entitled Saint Rita and depicts a loving Nun gently holding a Crucifix of Jesus Crucifixion on the Cross,
while an angel removes a crown of thorns from her head.  A thorn is still left sticking in her forehead.  In the background a group of cherubs are carrying flowers while one cherub is bringing a wreath of flowers to place on Saint Rita's head.  A very spiritual and moving religious Lithograph.
There are several other Angels descending upon her with Rose Wreaths, all in great colors with such adorable faces.  The piece is in very nice Condition as described above and as shown in my Pictures.  The Litho comes framed in an early Gesso decorated Frame, most certainly an original frame and comes as seen.  The bottom center Gesso panel shows flowers and a cross with a brass name tag reading Saint Rita.  Its a beautiful piece and hard to find in one of these original gesso frames.  The piece is finish framed at 29.5"x23.5" wide.  Its an amazing Piece!
Old Tin Litho's are actually quite scarce as their longevity was not great.
Moisture
even in the air tended to make them
susceptible
to rust and physical damage.  This old piece is just a really great example.
