CHINESE CERAMIC VASE
FAMILLE ROSE
POEM INSCRIBED & SIGNED
We have chosen to describe this fine vessel as a vase but it could very well also be considered a brush holder. It is from a San Diego estate and it is believed to be from the Republic Period or earlier, but we are not absolutely sure of the age. Appears to be very old and authentic.
This wonderful treasure is hand-painted and appears to show three women beneath a blossoming tree and a boy chasing a butterfly.
The pale white glaze is darkened and browned perhaps by age or more primitive firing techniques. It is relatively heavy weighing almost 4 lbs. It is 11" inches in height and 4 & 3/4" inches in diameter.
This vase is old and shows signs of imperfections as well as wear. Please view all images carefully. There is a small hairline crack on the inside and over the top and goes down about an inch or less to the front. Near the top of the vase along this crack appears to be a small area where it may have been repaired and filled in. This is shown in one of the provided images.
There is a hand-painted inscription in black characters.
The inscription reads:
