    Description

Offered for sale is an original, vintage butter dish in the "Cherry Blossom" pattern of Depression Glass.  The "Cherry Blossom" pattern was manufactured by the Jeannette Glass Company of Jeannette, Pennsylvania from 1930-1939.  The pattern was later reproduced in certain pieces but it is easy to tell the difference between the old and the new.  In the new pieces, much of the pattern is "missing" - there is a lot of space.  I used the reference book "Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass" by Gene and Cathy Florence (copyright 2004, 16th edition).  There is a section in the back of this book about telling the difference between the new and the old.  The butter dish base stands 1 1/4 inches tall and measures 6 1/8 inches across.  The lid stands about 2 1/2 inches tall and the opening measures about 5 inches across.  When the lid is on, the butter dish stands about 4 inches tall.  The condition is EXCELLENT with no chips, no cracks, no cloudiness - no damage whatsoever.  Please see the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase.  Remember, Depression Glass Butter Dishes are getting rather difficult to locate.  I recommend purchasing this piece before others in your set.
