Antique snuffbox with rich geometric decoration in the niello technique. Rectangular shape, curved bottom, hinged lid. The walls are covered with a pattern of ribbons and squares with abstract floral motifs, flowers and tendrils. Gilded inside. Inside of the lid engraved with the monogram "HvH". The box is marked; Maker's mark probably GY (in Kyrylic letters), master’s name unfortunately unknown, inspection mark Nikolay Dubrovin in Moscow, dated 1838 (inspector in the years 1822-1855).
