Antique Handled Stoneware Jug CLARK BROS brothers Zanesville Ohio Beer Bucket?

Up for auction is this:
Antique handled jug by CLARK BROS.  ZANESVILLE.  I think this could have been like a beer bucket that people would stop for beer at the neighborhood brewery on the way home from work.  In those days, bottled beer didn't exist.  I thought this is possible, because of the small bleed hole on top.
Clark Bros. Zanesville is incised on top of the jug, but it is hard to see in some of my pictures.
The jug held a quart.  It is 6 1/2" high (the stoneware part) 7 7/8" high to the top of the wood handle.  4 3/8" diameter.
Condition:  there is a chip out of the jug in the area of the handle wire.  Some slight roughness on the edges around the bottom.  Please look at the pictures to jug the condition for yourself.
