    Description

    For sale is an
    Old Antique
    FRENCH
    950 SOLID SILVER
    &
    CRYSTAL
    DRESSER JAR /  VANITY BOX
    .
This is an absolutely gorgeous Antique French 950 Silver Dresser Jar.
The Lid is superbly engraved with an Elaborate Armorial / Family Crest surmounted by a Crown or Coronet.
    The Engraving is Top Quality.
The Crystal Jar is Superbly Engraved / Cut.
The Inside of the Lid and Base Rim of the Dresser Jar
are marked with the Minerva hallmark indicating 950 Silver (95% Silver Purity).
The inside of the lid is also hallmarked with the maker's mark within a lozenge- however, it is worn and we haven't identified the maker.
    Hinged Lid.
The Silver Mount is beautifully detailed with Leaf and Berry decoration.
A Fantastic piece of French Silver.
Probably a Vanity / Dresser Jar. It could be used for Jewelry, Precious Items, or even special chocolates!
A fine addition to your silver collection.
It measures about 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) in height.
The Dresser Jar measures about 4 3/8 inches (about 11 cm) in diameter.
The Hinged Lid opens and closes well, although it does not shut as tightly as it should (this is a very minor issue).
The Interior is Gilded / Gold washed.
Unfortunately, the Center of the Silver Lid has a Split / Crack (see photos).
The Split is Directly on the Line separating the two shields (exactly on the right edge of the left shield and the left edge of the right shield). I wonder if the engraver pushed too hard with his graver and split the silver lid - we don't know.
The split is most visible from the inside- the Armorial obscures the split. Light is visible through the split.
The Inside of the Lid has some scratches and wear to the gilding (see photos).
There is some overall wear and tarnish to the gilding.
The Outside of the Dresser Jar may have been Gilded - there are traces of gilding on the exterior.
The glass has some very minor surface scratches from age and handling (see photos).
Otherwise, it is in Good Condition
    - there are
    no other
    condition issues or damage.
