    Description

    We are offering a wonderful original antique 19th century trade sign carved from solid wood in the form of a boot.  The hand painted lettering reads
    "BOOT REPAIR"
    .  It is notched where the heel would have been with a round open metal insert, probably for how it was originally mounted.  The surface on the front is tapered on the right side of the shaft and top around to the back and the top of the vamp; the other edges are 1' thick and flat.  There is a later added metal ring at the top for hanging.  Measures 9" x 17 1/2".  In very good original condition.  Retains a wonderful warm overall patina  Normal wear commensurate with age.  There are a few tiny chips to the wood on the edges and a couple to the surface as shown.  Several age cracks to the bottom.  No damage or loss.  Please study the photos as they are a part of the description.
