You are bidding on a 2006 25-cent commemorative Medal of Bravery Quarter.  Created in 1972 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Medal of Bravery is one of three Decorations for Bravery that recognize people who risk their lives to save or protect another. The Medal of Bravery is awarded for acts of heroism attempted under hazardous circumstances. The incident need not have taken place in Canada and the rescuer need not be Canadian, but Canadians or Canadian interests must be involved. The Governor General of Canada personally presents the Medal of Bravery in a ceremony held annually at Rideau Hall, Ottawa. A representation of the Medal of Bravery, a stylized Canadian maple leaf surrounded by a laurel wreath. This image is encircled by the legend BRAVERY 2006 BRAVOURE and the denomination 25 CENTS.
