    Description

1934 Prohibition Advertising Stoneware Whiskey Jug RICE HOTEL Houston Texas 2.5"
A miniature brown glazed, handled stoneware whisky jug
Was originally gifted to patrons of the Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas on New Years, January 1, 1934 along with a "promissory" note (not included here) to fill at the Hotel's expense when repeal permitted
Marked on the bottom "RICE HOTEL"
Although national prohibition was repealed in 1933, high proof alcohol was not licensed for sale in Texas until 1936 due to the Texas state prohibition amendment of 1919
In excellent vintage condition with no damage or repairs
** NOTE ** This little jug has been well preserved and looks new but is not. See the last photo for the provenance note that was kept with this jug and its twin (the original note is not available here as it went along with the sale of the other jug)
    Dimensions: 2.5"H x 2.25"W at handle
